| The Essex Kingdom is forest and woodlands surrounded by mostly coastlines bordered on the edge of The Commonlands. The whole forest sits under a dark and foreboding air ever since the Princess went and remains 'missing'. For miles around the place, everything grows, from beautiful plant life, to wondrous flora. No matter where you go around this area, it always feels like your being watched. Even on the sunniest day, the forest sits under a cloud of murky fog. It seems dark, even if you kept a candle with you it wouldn't seem to do any good. The whole Kingdom had turned somewhat hostile right to its very core. No animals are usually seen, and if you do see any animals, its far too late, wolves with hollow eyes roam these woods, preying on most things that enter them. The forest is unnaturally silent, and it is rumored to house enchanting creatures. Stories of dark fairies, banshees, and elves using their magic for indescribable things. The castle itself stands alone and desolate with its dark grey fog above it. Creatures Rumored to Inhabit Essex Kingdom:
- Nephilim - Called the fallen ones because men would allow their hearts to fail at the sight of
them. Some suggest that they were giants and when they fell, the ground shook, causing others to fall too. Some view of them as the hybrid offspring of fallen angels and human women.
- Mermaid - A mythological aquatic creature with a female human head and torso and
the tail of a fish..The mermaids have been discussed since at least 5000 BC. Her origins are believed to be from the Great Queen Atargatis, who loved a mortal shepherd and unintentionally killed him. Ashamed, she jumped into a lake to take the form of a fish, but the waters would not conceal her divine beauty. Thereafter, she took the form of a mermaid—human above the waist, fish below.
- Banshee - The Banshee is a female spirit usually seen as an omen of death and a messenger from the Otherworld. It
began as a fairy woman keening at the death of important personages. In later stories, the appearance of the banshee could foretell the death. According to the legend, the banshee can appear in a variety of guises. Most often she appears as an ugly, frightening hag, but can also appear as a stunningly beautiful woman of any age that suits her and is seen washing the blood stained clothes or armor of those who are about to die. Although not always seen, her mourning call is heard, usually at night when someone is about to die and usually around woods.
- Elves - The elves were originally thought of as a race of divine or semi-divine
beings endowed with magical powers, which they use both for the benefit and the injury of mankind. They appear to have been divided into light elves and dark elves, some using their powers for good, others for evil.
- Encantado - Encantados are most commonly viewed as a type of freshwater dolphin or
sea snake that has the ability to shape-shift into human form. They are characterized by superior musical ability, seductiveness, and attraction to parties. The creature’s transformation into human form seems to be rare, and usually occurs at night. While in human form the encantado will wear a hat to hide its protruding forehead. It does not disappear while shape-shifting and frequently displays magical abilities, such as the power to control storms and haunt humans. They use various mind control techniques and can inflict illness, insanity, and even death. The creatures are known for kidnapping humans.
